The moon cast its shadow on the earth as it passes in front of our sun. What will it be like and how should I prepare for such an event?
Real County, Texas, is in the middle of the "path of annularity" for the Annular Solar Eclipse occurring October 14, 2023, and is in the middle of the "path of totality" for Total Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. The "path of annularity" and the "path of totality” are the area where the eclipses are best viewed. The two eclipses crossing paths in our area is a once in a 375-year event, not to be missed!

The moon will move between the sun and the earth. Because the moon will be closer than usual to the earth, the moon will not completely cover the sun and sunlight will create a bright ring around the moon, an annular eclipse.
Safety First: To view an eclipse without appropriate eclipse glasses. Poke a 1/4" or smaller hole in a piece of cardboard and see the image created in the sun's shadow of the cardboard.
